Imperial Pacific to open ‘temporary casino’ on Saipan

Imperial Pacific International Holdings Ltd. has announced that its ‘temporary casino’ on the island of Saipan will be officially launched on November 27, according to its filing with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on Tuesday night.
The company said in the filing that the temporary casino would only start ‘collaboration with junket operators from December 2015 onwards.’
The temporary casino on the Pacific island had its soft-opening on July 26 this year, while VIP gaming operations in the property were launched on Sunday.
The company was an investor in the profit stream of local junket operator Hengsheng Group until it announced on October 29 its intention to terminate its agreement with the junket operator due to ‘’the downturn of Macau gaming business’ and its desire to ‘prioritise resources’ for its casino on Saipan.
‘The grand opening of the Temporary Casino supports the Group’s continuous evolution of Saipan into a diversified and world-leading entertainment and tourism destination,’ the company added.
The company was granted a 25-year licence to build and operate a casino on Saipan in August last year while a written amendment to its licence agreement with the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) in March this year allows the company to establish and operate a ‘temporary casino’.
Its managing director, Shen Yan, said last month that the first phase of the company’s integrated resort project on the island is estimated to open as soon as the end of next year.
