Inflation rate in Macau with marginal increase in 2021

The inflation rate in Macau stood at 0.03 per cent in 2021, compared to the previous year, according to official data released today (Friday).

The most significant increases were registered in the price of transport (+3.58 per cent) and of domestic equipment and services (+3.52 per cent), indicated in a statement by the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC).

On the same note, authorities added that in 2021 there were increases in prices “of plane tickets; liquefied petroleum gas; gasoline and meals purchased away from home, as well as the wages of domestic servants.

On the other hand, the biggest decreases were registered in recreation and culture (-6.23 per cent) and communications (-5.36per cent).

“Declining household rents and lower prices for pork, hotel rooms, excursions and telecommunications services offset some of the growth in the price index,” DSEC concluded.
