International School of Macao student involved in traffic accident in stable condition

The International School of Macao has informed Macau News Agency that its 12-year old secondary student involved in a road accident outside of the campus is in ‘serious but stable condition’.

The accident took place this Monday morning at about 8:18am near the school in Cotai, with footage from a car dash camera at the time circulating in social media and showing the incident.

After dropping off from a public bus that had stopped in a bus station near the school, the student crossed the road quickly and was hit by a motorcycle driven by a 51-year old man.

The man driving the motorbike had to be hospitalized after hitting the pavement following the accident.

MNA contacted the Public Security Police Force to know more about his current condition but no reply had been provided when this article was published.

‘The student is in serious but stable condition. He injured his foot and is awaiting the possibility of surgery. Fortunately, there does not appear to be a major head injury. As a school, we are encouraging all motorists and pedestrians to be extra careful during the busy morning drop off time and we are reviewing our safety procedures and training programs,” TIS told MNA.
