The Macau Portuguese and English Press Association (AIPIM) has donated food items to local charity Caritas Macau as result of a Covid-19 fundraising campaign launched by the journalists’ group.
AIPIM raised some 23,600 patacas during the four-week solidarity campaign aimed at assisting the local NGO in its efforts to lend a helping hand to Macau citizens (residents and migrant workers) who are struggling as a result of the Covid-19 crisis.
In addition to the funds collected from AIPIM members, the Macau Institute for Corporate Social Responsibility in Greater China has also joined this initiative and its members have also contributed with donations (7,500 patacas) to the solidarity campaign.
With the funds collected, AIPIM acquired food items which have been delivered on Saturday at Caritas Macau’s headquarters, downtown Macau.
“As Macau citizens are going through hardship due to the Covid-19 crisis, we felt that it was our duty as journalists and local citizens to lend a helping hand to local residents and migrant workers who are struggling to make ends meet and in need of support. Caritas Macau has been playing a priceless and pivotal role in helping these families and individuals”, said José Carlos Matias, president of the Board of Directors of APIM, according to a statement.
