Lawmaker questions inaction over fuel surcharges

Legislative Assembly member Kwan Tsui Hang has demanded to know what the Civil Aviation Authority is doing to regulate fuel surcharges levied by airlines serving Macau. In a written inquiry, Ms Kwan complained that the city’s flag carrier, Air Macau, reduced its fuel surcharges only last month, while most airlines reduced theirs soon after the world price of oil fell in the middle of last year. “Given the fluctuation in fuel prices, does the Civil Aviation Authority have any scheme for regulating the fuel surcharges of flights that depart from Macau? What did the authority do to regulate such surcharges?” she asked.
