Levo Chan’s trial to begin on December 5

The first court session of the trial involving former junket boss Levo Chan and eight other defendants has been scheduled for December 5, TDM Radio Macau reported.

The former head of Tak Chun, once one of the city’s top junket operators, is facing charges of founding and heading a ‘secret association or society’, illicit exploitation of gambling and money laundering.

He was arrested in late January and has since been in pre-trial detention.

Levo Chan’s trial will be presided over by judge Lam Peng Fai, also according to TDM.

Chan’s trial is set to start three months after that of another high-profile former junket boss: Suncity’s Alvin Chau, whose first court hearing was set to be held on September 2, but was eventually adjourned to September 19. Chau and Chan face similar charges.
