Local art collective to organise ‘one-off’ boat tour cabaret show

Local cultural group 10 Marias Cultural Association will organise a ‘one-off’ boat tour/cabaret show to be held on June 5.

Formed by 10 women artists ranging from different artistic areas, 10 Marias is focused on visual arts, performing art, new technologies and artistic exchange between local and international artists.

“The first appearance of the artists collective dates back to 2002, in Bairro Alto, Lisbon. In 2018, revivalism and the desire to celebrate the historic first show led the artists to present, first in Lisbon and then in Macau,” Marieta da Costa, one of the collective members told Macau News Agency.

In 2019 the group held its cabaret show at the Live Music Association venue, with the “great success and public demand” convincing the group to organize a one-off show after the pandemic halted any plans for an encore last year.

“The scenery is the Pearl River Delta, a cruise, the city and a cabaret. On stage, a variety of performing arts intersect. Burlesque, satire or simply the absurd will be dissected by both artists and the public,’ the group told MNA.

The boat tour will last for about 2 to 3 hours departing from the Inner Harbour Pier 14 9:00pm and passing through Macau Tower, sailing in front of Grand Lisboa, MGM, Wynn, and the Macau Science Museum towards Hong Kong- Macau-Zhuhai bridge, before returning at about 1:00am.

“The boat has capacity for 380 people but we will only take about 260 on-board. Since we’re all also a bit closed in Macau at the moment this year’s show will also include only local talents, even some unexpected appearances,” Marieta added.

In between the tour, a cabaret show performance will take place, with around 13 artists performing a different act of singing, music and poetry, drinks and food on offer and a DJ set afterwards.

At MOP250 each, tickets can be purchased directly from the association.
