Macau | Some 7.38 million people expected to pass through the Macau International Airport in 2018

Macau (MNA) – The Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) announced this Wednesday it expects the Macau International Airport (MIA) to receive some 7.38 million people and 39,000 tonnes of cargo transport as well as to record 60,000 flight movements in 2018.

Speaking at the MIA 2018 Media Spring Dinner, the CAM Chairman of the Board of Directors, Ma Iao Hang, said the south extension of the passenger terminal building will be ready for public bidding in the first half of 2018, with the reception capacity to be raised to 10 million passengers per year upon completion.

‘Looking forward to 2018, upon the completion of the north extension project in the first quarter, the terminal building will be adding up to accommodate 7.5 million passengers as a whole. The open tender for stores and restaurants in the north extension area has started, more local signature dinning and shopping will be introduced to passengers,’ Mr. Ma said.

The airport registered over 7.1 million passenger movements in 2017, a 8.1 per cent yearly increase from a year before, with aircraft movements seeing a 2.8 per cent rise to some 58,000 and the total cargo volume going up 14 per cent to reach 37,000 tonnes.

‘The total income of MIA achieved MOP 4.9 billion, which increased by 9.2 per cent compared to 2016,’ the CAM representative said.
