Macau (MNA) – Macau International Airport (MIA) recorded over 900 flights carrying 120,000 passengers from February 16 to 20, corresponding to the Chinese New Year holiday, according to a note by concessionaire Sociedade do Aeroporto Internacional de Macau S.A.R.L. / Macau International Airport Company Limited.
The figures show an 18 per cent year-on-year increase in the number of passengers, and a 14 per cent increase in the number of flight movements.
The increase can be attributed to extra flights during CNY, as the figure was double that of last year. Moreover, Royal Air Charter Service of the Philippines and Small Planet Airlines of Cambodia started air services in Macau during 2018. MIA added three new routes to its portfolio: Kalibo in the Philippines, Siem Reap in Cambodia, and Bali in Indonesia.
CAM forecast that daily passenger volume passing through Macau International Airport in the first five days of this year’s Chinese New Year had increased 5 per cent yearly to reach some 20,000 people per day, as reported by MNA.
Work on the MIA north extension started on February 12, as published by MNA.
