Macau International Airport Company Limited and Nam Kwong Logistics Company Limited have signed a strategic cooperation agreement for the construction of the airport’s Hengqin Cargo Terminal.
According to the announcement both parties hope the construction of the Macau International Airport (Hengqin) Cargo Terminal can attract new industries such as cross-border e-commerce businesses to settle in Macau while helping to diversify the local economy and promote the economic and industrial integration of Guangdong and Macau.
The airport has recently completed the installation of three passenger loading bridges included in its South Extension project, which is now over 60 per cent completed.
The completed foundation and main structure construction, external structure, construction of façade system and interior partition, installation of pipework and ductwork and MEP equipment are currently on-going, with the entire project estimated to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year.
The 3-storey South Extension Building with a total area of over 18,000 square metres will comprise of immigration hall, departure lounge, commercial area, offices, prayer room, entertainment room and conference rooms.
After the project is completed, the annual passenger handling capacity of PTB will be expected to increase significantly from 7.8 million to 10 million.
