The value of bilateral trade between Macau and Belgium totalled US$43 million (MOP344 million) for the first quarter of this year, a jump of 43.3 per cent compared to some US$30 million for the same period of 2014, executive member of Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) Glória Batalha Ung said on Monday at a Belgian chocolate event. According to Ms. Ung, the trade exchange between the two parties includes a variety of trade types encompassing products as well as services. She estimated that Macau-Belgium bilateral trade will further develop in the future. Meanwhile, the Consul General of Belgium in Hong Kong, Michèle Deneffe, said on Monday that there are only some 25 Belgians working in the Special Administrative Region at the moment.
