Macau (MNA) – The opening ceremony for the BOAO Forum for Asia Development Summit (Macau) took place on Monday with speeches by Zhou Wenzhong, Secretary General of BOAO Forum for Asia; Leong Vai Tac, Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macau Special Administrative Region Government; and Liu Liang, President of the Macau University of Science and Technology.
All the speeches remarked that the main subjects covered in the meeting were key to the economic development of the city. The subjects, tackled in three sub-forum sessions, included youth talent, Smart City development, and the Belt and Road (OBOR) initiative.
Mr. Zhou said that the changes the Greater Bay Area is experiencing set the region on the same level as the Tokyo Bay, San Francisco Bay, or New York Bay areas. He said that this “represents challenges and opportunities for the youth,” and invited them to “cultivate its global vision.”
Mr. Leong said that “building a Smart City will improve the life of Macau citizens.” Regarding OBOR, he also said that the MSAR could build a bridge between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries.
Mr. Liu highlighted the importance of the Smart City for the development of local talents.
After the speeches, Fernando Chui Sai On, the MSAR Chief Executive, joined other dignitaries to make a symbolic opening of the event.
