Macau continues to lay-off imported workers

In just three months, 701 imported workers have left Macau, according to the latest demographic statistics. At the end of June 2010, the total number of non-resident workers in Macau stood at 72,142, down by 701 quarter-to-quarter and 11,474 year-on-year. Meanwhile, in the second quarter of 2010, a total of 847 individuals were authorized to reside in Macau, down by 1,101 quarter-to-quarter and 1,391 year-on-year. Moreover, there were 2,009 Chinese immigrants with One-way Exit Permit moving to Macau, up significantly by 1,251 (+215.8%) quarter-to-quarter and 1,394 (+256.1%) year-on-year.
