Macau | CTCC a great addition to GP programme

Macau (MNA) – The 30-year old local racer is competing this season in the China Touring Car Championship, a championship he believes would be a great addition to the event programme one day.

“I think CTCC as a main player on the Chinese motorsport scene should have an opportunity to be part of the prestigious Macau Grand Prix as the final event of the season”, he told Macau News Agency (MNA).

CTCC is the top motorsport event in China, and is classified as A-Level in the annual national sports competition plan by the General Administration of Sport of the People’s Republic of China.

There was a time when the most popular circuit racing series in Mainland China considered hosting a race on the Guia Circuit but those plans never came to fruition. However, last year’s Guia Race allowed the participation of CTCC cars for the first and only time.

“The CTCC championship has grown over the years with more and more manufacturers involved as well as renowned drivers. It would make a great addition to the Macau Grand Prix races line-up, making for extremely exciting races for spectators”, said the Shanghai Volkswagen works driver.

Currently holding races in Shanghai, Zhuhai, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Ningbo and even an event in the streets of Wuhan, one of the great successes of CTCC is its ability to attract the support of car manufacturers. Factory teams from Shanghai Volkswagen, KIA, Changan Ford, BAIC and Haima are all represented in the main class of the championship.

WTCC star and Guia Race record holder Rob Huff is currently heading the 2017 championship with one race to go.
