Macau | Five people stopped by police while crossing Governador Nobre de Carvalho Bridge during typhoon

Macau (MNA) – The Macau Judiciary Police (PJ) revealed that this Sunday morning it stopped five people who attempted to cross Governador Nobre de Carvalho Bridge as Typhoon Mangkhut approached the city.

According to PJ, CCTV footage on the Macau-Taipa Bridge revealed that that five people crossed the blocked entrance of the bridge and walked to its peak of the bridge.

Afterwards, police officers contacted and brought the group back to the police district for investigation.

‘The Civil Protection Operations Center (COPC) declares that the above-mentioned people have placed their own security in a very dangerous situation and may constitute an illegal act. Before calling on the public and passengers to do anything, they should think twice before, especially during the typhoon. Do not make any extra work to add extra work to members of the civil defense structure,’ police authorities advised.

Police also advised that with the passage of Typhoon Mangkhut creating strong winds, the public should stay indoors or in a safe place and pay close attention to updated weather information.

People affected by flooding should also take shelter in areas as high as possible, the department added.

The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau announced that Typhoon Signal No. 10 has been hoisted at 11:00 am.
