Macau (MNA) – The Macau SAR Government will close down 16 public underground car parks one hour before the city hoists Typhoon Signal No. 8 or Level 3 / Orange storm surge, a dispatch in the Official Gazette on Monday revealed.
The closure of car parks is a recent measure implemented to prevent casualties such as those that occurred during the passage of Typhoon Hato last year, when several car owners trying to save their vehicles were killed by flash floods in underground car parks.
The 16 car parks to be closed are: 1) Rua de Malaca 2) Praça de Ferreira do Amaral 3) Alameda Dr. Carlos d’Assumpcao 4) Edifice Cheng I 5) Jardim das Artes 6) Avenida do Conselheiro Borja 7) Rua do Mercado de Iao Hon 8) Taipa Central 9) Rua da Tranquilidade 10) Auto Silo de Lido 11) Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal 12) Taipa Ferry Terminal 13) Macau Science Center 14) Edifice Fai Tak 15) Edifice Bairro da Ilha Verde 16) Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge Border Building.
