Macau hotel revenues exceed 4,000 ME in 2018

Macau’s hotel sector revenues totaled MOP 37.29 billion (EUR 4.2 billion) in 2018, up 14.5% from the previous year. registered last year, the territory authorities announced.

More than 14 million people stayed in Macao hotels and guesthouses last year, up 7.2% from 2017.

The vast majority of hotel revenues came from 5-star hotels (3.2 billion euros), representing 78.0% of total hotel revenues, up 18.6% over 2017.

Revenues from 4-star hotels totaled MOP 4.39 billion (EUR 492 million) and revenues from 3-star and 2-star establishments totaled MOP 3.78 billion (424 million euros). euros).

On the other hand, hotel expenses increased by 10% to MOP 31.78 billion (EUR 3.5 billion).

According to figures released by the Statistics and Census Service, 116 hotels and guesthouses (three more than in 2017) employed 52,976 people, an increase of 3.7% over the previous year.
