Macau | International Yacht show opens to the public

Macau (MNA) – The 7th Macau International Yacht Show opened to the public today at Macau Fisherman’s Wharf. The event, which will be open until November 5, showcases luxury vessels and has scheduled a series of side shows.
The fair includes a series of performances, exhibitions, discussion panels and presentations focusing on the world of top-notch boats.
It also represents a chance to see some real yachts at the Fisherman Wharf facilities.
Henrique Silva, a local entrepreneur pioneering in the yacht sector in Macau, says that visitors should “go there, see the boats, and dream a little bit, and one day probably we could have the chance to have your boat in Macau.”
Mr. Silva will make a presentation entitled “Where we are, and where we want to be” on Saturday. The presentation intends to highlight the problems of the industry in the city, its challenges and its opportunities. He believes that developing the industry in the city would diversify tourism offerings and would grant new job opportunities to local groups linked to the traditional fishing sector.
According to Mr.Silva, the lack of infrastructure in the sector and slow legal developments are dragging down the industry’s expansion. He says the city is built facing opposite to the ocean but there are projects and measures that could be implemented immediately to reverse the trend. As such, he will present a development project for the abandoned historic shipyards in the Coloane district.
