Macau | Local business delegations visit Bay Bridge

Macau (MNA) – Over 30 members of the Macau European Chamber of Commerce and the Macau Delegation of Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCILC) visited the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB), the CCILC said in a press release on Sunday.

The delegation’s goals for the trip were to ‘further understand opportunities arising from the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, as well as the integration of Pearl River Delta region.’

Kevin Thompson, President of Macau European Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the transformational potential of the project. ‘The benefits go beyond being simply fiscal,’ he said, ‘by reducing journey times, hitherto unseen opportunities may be enabled to work with European businesses and entrepreneurs, relocate and co-locate businesses, and to uncover innovative cross-border cultural tourism and experience-led leisure opportunities.’

Leong Wa Kun, President of Macau Delegation of the CCILC said the Bridge will strengthen talent mobility between Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macau, help attract foreign investors and thereby increase the overall economic competitiveness of the Pearl River Delta region.

The visit took place on January 24 and Wei Dongqing, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee and Executive Director of HZMB Authority, hosted the event.
