Macau | Meituan Delivery requests IP protection

Macau (MNA) – Meituan Delivery, the delivery service of Chinese e-retailer giant Meituan, has applied for trademark protection in the Macau SAR, the local Official Gazette stated in its November 1 issue.

Meituan offers a wide range of e-services from food delivery to bookings. Meituan Delivery is the delivery utility of the brand. The services linked to the trademark include the core activity of the company.

Meituan is currently undertaking a process to get its business offline. Last month Meituan-Dianping announced it raised US$4 billion in a funding round led by Tencent, Sequoia Capital, GIC Pte and Tiger Global, according to Reuters. The funding was intended to support its offline expansion.

After the funding round, the value of the company is set at US$30 billion, according to Reuters.

The firm competes in China with rivals such as Alibaba and JD.com.
