Macau New Neighbourhood construction works in Hengqin initiated

Construction works for the Macau New Neighbourhood in Hengqin have been initiated on December 31, 2020, public group Macau Urban Renewal Limited announced.

The project will provide about 4,000 residential units, as well as supporting facilities such as shops, education, transportation, medical care and community service centers, plus commercial shops, schools, health stations, elderly service centres, and family community service centres.

A subsidiary of public group Macau Urban Renewal is responsible for the development and planning of the project, which is expected to be completed in 2023.

According to the company, the 27 residential buildings included in the project will be constructed using prefabricated environmentally friendly construction methods.

Some 80 per cent of the 4,000 residential units will comprise two-bedroom units, each with a floor area of ​​about 90 square meters, with 20 per cent being three-bedroom units, with a floor area of ​​about 100 to 120 square meters.

Residential buildings are to be completed simultaneously with supporting facilities to meet the needs of residents.

‘In addition, the Macao New Neighborhood project is about 6 minutes’ drive from Hengqin Port. In order to create a convenient travel environment, the parking lot in the project will provide more than 4,000 vehicle parking spaces,’ the company headed by Peter Lam added.

‘Residents who purchase the project unit can be eligible to apply for Macau single-plate vehicles to enter and exit Hengqin. After the project is completed, a shuttle bus will be added to the project to and from the housing estate and Hengqin Port depending on needs’.

The company will carry out the construction of the project at this stage, and the purchase procedures will be carried out in the next stage.

The total amount of company investment amounts to RMB9.8 billion (US$1.4 billion), and the initial registered capital is RMB5.8 billion.
