Macau | Pearl Horizon homebuyers ask NPC to interpret land law

Macau (MNA) – The Pearl Horizon Condominium Owners United Association is planning to submit a petition at the city’s Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government on Tuesday, requesting the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (SCNPC) to interpret the current land law.

Kou Meng Pok, chairman of the Association, told Macau News Agency (MNA) that it had not received any response from the Liaison Office regarding the previous submissions to the Office.

“But the petition this time is different because last time we submitted a petition to the Liaison Office before the top court had made the decision about the dispute,” said the chairman.

Recently, the group also announced that over 1,000 affected buyers are to sue the Macau SAR Government for ‘administrative misconduct’.

Last Thursday, the Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On stated during a plenary session of the Legislative Assembly (AL) that the government has no schedule to revise the current land law despite the many voices demanding revision.

The government’s recent announcement of nullifying 16 land plots at Nam Van Lake has resulted in a group of affected developers protesting and requesting the government to revise the land law.
