Macau | Protest against dangerous substance storehouses attracted 260 participants – police

Macau (MNA) – The public assembly on Sunday protesting the government’s plan to build temporary warehouses to store dangerous substances had some 260 protesters during peak times, a press notice issued by the Public Security Police Force (CPSP) revealed.

CPSP stated that the security departments, as instructed by the Chief Executive, will introduce more detail information regarding the plan to build the depots at Seac Pai Van via different channels and communication platforms such as seminars, symposiums, current affairs programmes and new media.

The departments will explain the safety, technical requirements and operation of the temporary warehouses, as well as the types and characteristics of the stored chemicals.

A professional management team will also be established to monitor and manage the operation of the warehouses, as well as the existent nearby fire station and related regular monitoring facilities to make instant response over accident.

CPSP also indicated that the Fire Services Bureau had recently made detail explanation on a local radio programme the fire safety management for the existent depot at Ilha Verde and the future depots at Coloane, stating that related information is available on the Bureau’s official WeChat account.
