Macau | Three more swimming pools’ opening times suffer arrangements due to staff shortages

Macau (MNA) – The city’s Sports Bureau (ID) has rearranged the opening times of three more public swimming pools after announcing the temporary closure of two pools – Cheoc Van and Dr. Sun Yat Sen Swimming Pools – due to the shortage of lifeguards.

The ID released a notice at midnight notifying that the Carmo outdoor swimming pool will be temporarily closed, with the indoor pool open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm, while on the other days it will open from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Taipa Central Park Swimming Pool will open from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Ha Sac Park Swimming Pool from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.

The ID was announced that the service provider does not currently have enough lifeguards to station in public swimming pools.

The ID stated in another notice on Tuesday that the Bureau had already had a meeting with the service provider, continuously requiring the company to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

Earlier on Monday, a group of lifeguards held a press conference complaining about mistreatment by the company, with the company requesting workers to work 13 to 18.5 hours per day during the swimming seasons, TDM Chinese Radio had reported.
