Macau (MNA) – The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) Typhoon announced that Typhoon Signal No. 10 was hoisted at 11:00 am.
As of this moment super Typhoon Mangkhut was at about 160 kilometers southeast of Macau and heading for the mouth of the Pearl River and has been downgraded from ‘Super’ to ‘Severe’.
The wind is expected to intensify, with Signal No. 10 is expected to remain in effect for a prolonged period of time. Red Storm Surge level 4 warning remains in effect.
Typhoon Mangkhut is expected to approach the territory and is expected reach its nearest point to Macau, about 70 km, at 12:00pm.
The wind speed will range between force 63 – 118 km/h or more, with heavy and frequent downpours.
Meanwhile, the Macau Civil Protection Operations Center (COPC) had recorded 26 incidents as of 9:00pm of today, namely, three cases of damaged construction sites; three cases of fallen trees; 17 cases of fallen awnings, windows or other objects; and three cases of fallen scaffolding or other installations in construction sites.
Residents were advised to seek shelter, stay in safe and covered places and away from doors and windows, while keeping track of up to date information about the tropical storm.
