Macau-Zhongshan ‘free yachting’ postponed to year-end

The implementation of the ‘Free Yacht Travel Scheme’ between the city and Zhongshan in Guangdong has been postponed again, this time to the end of the year, the head of the Shipping and Seafarers Department of Marine and Water Bureau, Lei Veng Seng, told reporters last week. The scheme was originally slated to be available during the middle of the year. But earlier this month, the Water Bureau told Business Daily that the opening date was put off to the end of September. According to Mr. Lei, the delay is due to the two governments still needing more time to organise border and Customs issues, despite all maritime affairs having already been basically settled.
