Macau | Zhuhai Airport opens gates to meet growing demand

Macau (MNA) – Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport has increased its number of gates from 15 to 23 to meet growing demand, the City of Zhuhai website reportedon Monday.

According to the website, the airport put the idle east airside concourse into operation on February 9, leading to a prospective growth of annual handling capacity of 150 per cent to 12 million passengers.

The source also indicated that passenger handling capacity would be adequate for the next five years when all 23 gates are in operation.

Passenger throughput increased from less than 1 million in 2006 to some 9 million last year, the source revealed.

Meanwhile, waiting lounges will be constructed at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge checkpoints for passengers who intend to take fly from ZhuhaiAirport and Hong kong International Airport.
