People who intend to return to Macau from high pandemic risk regions in Mainland China will no longer need to book a medical observation hotel in advance, health authorities indicated.
Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre Coordinator Dr. Leong Iek Hou indicate yesterday that the list of risk areas in Mainland China and the corresponding anti-epidemic measures are “frequently changed” in response to the pandemic situation.
Therefore for these people, at the time of entry into Macau, Health Bureau officials posted at the border posts will indicate the places for medical observation, according to the requirements of the anti-epidemic measures at that time, notifying the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) to make the observation hotels available.
Some 295 people are still under medical observation in designated hotels in the SAR.
Quarantine hotel arrangements for returning residents and non-residents have been re-adjusted since May 8, with arrivals now divided into two government-designated hotels – Pousada Marina Infante – or two optional quarantine hotels – Regency Art Hotel and Grand Coloane Resort – according to their origin, residency status and choice.
Tourism authorities also guaranteed that hotels are accepting reservations for medical observation until August, but warned that reservations must be made directly with the hotel units.
Some pandemic restrictions for Hong Kong arrivals will also be eased this month.
Starting from May 16 all individuals coming from Hong Kong – including those who come to Hong Kong via foreign countries or Taiwan and have stayed in Hong Kong for 7 days – will no longer be handed a yellow health code in the seven days after the required 14-day quarantine.
“During the period of health monitoring, the Macao Health Code will be green. However, travel to Mainland China is prohibited through Macau without authorization from the Chinese authorities,” Dr. Leong added.
In addition, people coming from Hong Kong during their own health monitoring for seven days must carry out nucleic acid tests in the temporal order of 2nd, 4th and 6th days and comply with other anti-epidemic measures.
If these persons do not perform nucleic acid tests on the specified days, the Macau Health Code will be converted to Yellow until the test result is negative.
So as an example, if the medical observation of centralized isolation is completed on June 1, that is, the period of monitoring their own health for seven days will be between June 1 and 7, so people must carry out the test of nucleic acid on June 2, 4, and 6, respectively.
