Medical observation imposed for travellers from Kashgar, Xinjiang

Health authorities announced that starting from tomorrow (Tuesday) all individuals who, in the 14 days prior to entering Macau have been in the Kashgar district of Xinjiang province will be subject to medical observation for a period of 14 days in designated places.

The measure comes after a notification from the National Health Commission and the Health Commission of the Autonomous Region of Xinjiang-Uighur on 25 October 2020 after 137 asymptomatic and infection cases were found detected Zhanmin Village in the Shufu Municipality of that specific district.

All close contacts of the Kashgar patient have been isolated for medical observation and local authorities are carrying out epidemiological investigations, the Xinjiang health commission said.

As a result of this notification, local health authorities immediately decided to change the colour of the Health Code of individuals who had been in Kashgar District, Xinjiang, in the last 14 days to Yellow and these individuals need to perform health self-management, suspend their professional activity and must be accompanied by Health Bureau professionals.

“These individuals must undergo a detailed epidemiological assessment at the border entry points, if they have visited the Village or Municipality concerned in the Kashgar District, with 14 days isolation, while those who have been in the Kashgar District but have not travelled to the mentioned Town or Municipality, must carry out health self-management,” the public note read.
