The first day of new employment assistance and training round received over 600 applications, the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) indicated.
In order to assist local residents struggling to find employment local labour authorities decided to launch monthly training courses aimed at people who were unemployed on January 1, 2019 or at a later date due to the termination of their employment relationship, or who have completed their higher education course this year.
The latest round open don September 14 with 800 vacancies provided, and receiving 624 applications just on the first day.
The training programme offers 10 courses, with a total of 23 classes in construction, industry and commerce, catering, retail sales, security, personal care, among others.
Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, the local unemployment rate has increased steadily, reaching an overall 2.7 per cent rate in July, and a 3.7 per cent rate for local residents.
