Mozambique: Humanitarian aid for 107 more families in one day – Cyclone Idai

Humanitarian aid following Cyclone Idai in Mozambique has been provided for another 107 families since Wednesday, according to the most recent tally issued by the country’s authorities.

The death toll was maintained at 468 people, but the number of affected families increased to 28,253, two weeks after the cyclone hit the centre of Mozambique.

As for schools, the number of classrooms destroyed dropped to 3,079 but the number of pupils affected rose to 98,871 – some 8,000 more than in the previous tally.

According to Mozambique’s authorities, the cyclone has injured 1,522 people and affected 804,009.

There are 135,578 people living in temporary shelter centres, 7,422 of whom in vulnerable conditions (pregnant women and the elderly).
