The Macau Insurance Industry Professionals Association (MIIPA) has been officially launched this afternoon (November 20) with the aim of nurturing local talents and promoting professional training of insurance professionals.
“Our purpose is to help develop local insurance industry experts and professionals, including accountants, auditors, actuarial analysts and senior managers”, MIIPPA president Ivan Cheung told Macau News Agency (MNA), on the side-lines of the association’s inauguration, held during the International Crisis Management Forum and Exhibition and Forum at Venetian Macao.
Mr Cheung, who is also Fidelidade Macau’s general manager, underlined that as “Macau lacks these talents”, this group of insurance industry professionals is keen on promoting exchanges with experts from the Greater Bay Area and overseas countries such as Australia, United Kingdom or Portugal.
Mr Cheung stresses that the association’s aims are in line with Macau’s overall development needs and future direction.
Paulo Barbosa, chairman of MIIPA’s Supervisory Council, summed up the association’s mission as aiming to “act as a bridge between insurers, agents and brokers, and relevant authorities”.
MIIPA has among its members about 60 individuals and 10 corporate members.
