Banks granted new mortgages for housing amounting to MOP4.9 billion (about US$616 million) in March, 6.3 per cent less than the month before, the Monetary Authority of Macau says. The authority’s figures show 93.6 percent of the new lending was to Macau people and the rest to outsiders. The amount lent for uncompleted flats rose by 89.4 per cent to MOP1.7 billion. The authority says banks granted new mortgages for commercial real estate worth MOP9.7 billion in March, having granted MOP4.7 billion worth the month before.
