New Woman Development Association of Macau holds female-only art exhibition

The New Woman Development Association of Macau has inaugurated an art exhibition bringing together six new female artists born and raised in Macau or currently residing in the city.

The exhibition – titled 2019 Macau New Woman Contemporary Art Exhibition – will last until November 16 with works from artists Yang Sio Maan, Angel Chan, Luna Cheong, MJ Lee, Ana Jacinto Nunes and Tchusca Songo on exhibition at the Carmo Hall in Taipa.

The exhibition venue was also designed by a Macau young female designer Sueie Zhe.

“We hope that the public can pay more attention to the similarities of genders as human beings through the theme of the art exhibition this year – “WM”. […] We hope to express the unique humanistic feelings, and tell the history and culture of Macau through each piece of artwork in this art exhibition,” the exhibition curator Kathine Cheong stated.

The exhibition period will also include different interactive activities, such as opening ceremony, keynote speech, artists sharing, guided tours, public creation and workshops to help the audience understand the philosophy and ideas of the artists.
