No date yet for possible easing of restrictions for Zhuhai cross-border movements

There is still no date to ease the current movement restrictions between the Macau SAR and Zhuhai, security authorities indicated today (Wednesday).

Zhuhai authorities have imposed a 7-day hotel quarantine for people entering Macau since June 22.

After the current community outbreak started on June 19, Macau’s inbound border policy has also been tightened, with travellers entering from Guangdong required to present a negative COVID test certificate within 48 hours prior to entry, while previously it was within 7 days.

Speaking in today’s pandemic update press conference, the Head of Police Liaison and Public Affairs Division of the Unitary Police Service, Cheong Kin Ian, stated that authorities have maintained daily communication with Zhuhai authorities but that no exact date for the lifting of restrictions could be provided as of yet.

The total number of inbound and outbound reported at the various Macau borders reached only 1,900 as of yesterday.
