Health authorities have indicated today (Monday) that starting from March 8 the maximum price charged per nucleic acid test will be further lowered to MOP90 (US$11), with a new supplier and a new testing centre added.
Speaking in today’s pandemic update press conference, Conde S. Januario Hospital Doctor, Alvis Lo Iek Long, a new nucleic acid test centre operating at the Workers’ Stadium near the Border Gate and with a capacity for 1,000 daily appointments had been added.
The new centre will be operated by state-owned group Nam Yue (Group) Company Limited.
“We have gradually increased the capacity to carry out nucleic acid testing. We wanted to choose the most convenient location for residents,” Dr. Alvis Lo noted.
Lo also denied that the price reduction was sure of any financial support provided by local authorities.
There are currently five main public nucleic acid testing sampling sites available in Macau, with a capacity for a total of 27,000 appointments per day.
Apart from the new center, tests can be carried out at Conde S. Januario Hospital, Pac On Ferry Terminal, Macau Forum, Kiang Wu Hospital and the Macau Science and Technology University Hospital, plus testing centres in hotels and the Macau International Airport.
The most test per day average was reported at the Pac On Ferry terminal, some 12,000 tests per day.
No new imported Covid-19 cases have been reported in Macau for 23 consecutive days.
