The Philippine Consulate General in Macau has announced that Consul Lilybeth R. Deapera has concluded her tour of duty and has returned to the country on January 15.
Deapera started her service term as Philippine Consul General to Macau, Special Administrative Region in January 2015, the first woman appointed to the position, after previous assignments in London, Caracas and Mexico City.
No replacement was indicated by the Consulate.
The Consulate General stated that under her tenure had its main focus on the ‘welfare of Filipinos in Macau’ with several monthly meetings with community leaders.
The pandemic also required for the consulate to organize repatriation flights to bring home the stranded Filipinos or those Filipino workers whose contracts have ended after the cancellation of direct flights to the Philippines.
Some 2,643 Filipino nationals have been repatriated via 14 chartered flights since the pandemic started, the Consulate informed.
As of November, 2020 there were 31,734 Filipino workers in the Macau SAR, 7 per cent less than in January of the same year.
