Portugal: Last 24 hours sees sixteen deaths, 3,622 cases of new coronavirus

Portugal has recorded 3,622 new cases of infection by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, 16 deaths attributed to Covid-19 and a slight reduction in hospitalisations with the disease in the last 24 hours, according to data from the country’s national health authority, the DGS.

Today seven fewer people are hospitalised, out of a total of 860, 178 of which are in intensive care units, where seven people entered in the last 24 hours.

Not since 22 March, when there were also 16 deaths in the previous 24 hours, had the daily number of deaths been this high.

Most new SARS-CoV-2 infections (1,606) are now registered in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, while 1,314 more people are infected in the North.
