Bragança, Guarda and Vila Real are under orange warning because of rain until late afternoon, according to the Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), which also issued yellow warnings for seven districts because of thunderstorms.
According to IPMA, the orange warning (the second most serious) will be in force between 10:00 and 18:00 in the districts of Bragança, Guarda and Vila Real, because of the rain, with scattered showers, which can be heavy and include hail locally.
Likewise, the districts of Viana do Castelo, Porto, Braga and Viseu have a yellow warning, the third most serious.
The districts of Bragança, Viseu, Porto, Guarda, Vila Real, Viana do Castelo and Braga are under a yellow alert because of thunderstorms, which can be dispersed and frequent. This warning also applies between 10:00 and 18:00 today.
IPMA predicts for today a small drop in the maximum temperature, especially in the interior of the country, and warns that there are then favourable conditions for the occurrence of thunderstorms in the north and central regions until the end of the afternoon, with scattered showers, but that locally these can be strong and accompanied by hail.
Light rainfall is also expected until late morning, especially on the west coast and in the south.
Maximum temperatures will vary from 23º (Porto, Aveiro and Sines) to 30º (Castelo Branco) and minimum temperatures will vary from 14º (Castelo Branco, Portalegre and Viseu) to 19º (Faro).
