Chief Executive, Ho Iat Seng, has guaranteed today (Sunday) that public service workers will have salary increases starting from January 1, 2024, TDM Radio reported.
Ho made the statements on the sidelines of the National Day celebrations, assuring that public servants will have salary increases next year but did not reveal the value of these increases, claiming that the report by the Remuneration Assessment Committee of the Civil Service has not yet been published.
For the budget proposal for next year to be submitted to the Legislative Assembly with the new proposed increases, the Public Service Remuneration Assessment Committee needs to be completed.
Public employees have had their salary progression suspended for the last three years, due to the economic crisis generated by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Recently Ho met with representatives of the Macau Civil Servants Federation, in order to garner their opinions and suggestions for the 2024 Policy Address in November.
The association had previously asked for a 3.5 per cent wage jump for public servants.
