Zhuhai quarantine exemption scheme for Macau residents extended to GBA cities

Macau residents who are exempted from mandatory quarantine when entering Zhuhai may visit all nine Guangdong Greater Bay Area (GBA) cities, starting from Monday (July 6) on, 8am, according to a statement from the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre.

The scheme which has been adopted to enter Zhuhai will be extended to the other eight GBA cities in neighbouring Guangdong province: Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing.

The quarantine waiver may apply to Macau residents crossing the Macau-Zhuhai border for official purpose, business activities or other specific reasons.

Residents who apply for the quarantine exemption permit will also need to meet the following requirements: not having been to any countries or regions other than mainland China and Macau in the 14 days prior to their planned date of entry into the mainland; must not have fever or respiratory symptoms; have the Macau Health Green Code and a valid nucleic acid test.

Those who meet these requirements can file an application with the Macau authorities who will in turn provide the list of approved citizens to the mainland authorities. The successful applicants may circulate in the nine cities for a maximum period of 14 days.

The 3000 daily quota will remain in place.

Successful applicants can only cross two of the city’s border checkpoints: the Hengqin Port and the one at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau bridge.
