Manufacturing in Macau posted signs of some recovery in the second quarter. The production index of the manufacturing sector, compiled by the Statistics and Census Service, increased by 8.9 percent quarter-to-quarter, pushed by the manufacture of tobacco-related products. The production index of the manufacturing sector increased 3.8 percent year-on-year. However, the indicator is down by over one third in comparison with 2008, the reference year for the index.
