Residential transactions fall 23.5pct y-on-y in 2019

The purchase and sale of residential units in 2019 dropped 23.5 per cent year-on-year to 8,277 units, with overall transaction value falling by 26.5 per cent year-on-year to MOP51.05 billion (US$6.3 billion), data provided by the Statistics and Census Bureau revealed.

The sold residential units included 7,101 existing residential units with a transaction value of MOP40.61 billion, and 1,176 pre-sale residential units amounting to MOP10.44 billion.

The average price per square metre of usable area of residential units went down slightly by 0.9 per cent year-on-year to MOP107,522 in 2019.

However, while average prices per square metre in Coloane and Taipa both dropped in 2019 by 7.2 per cent and 1.5 per cent to MOP125,799 and MOP110,721, respectively, the average price of those in the Macau Peninsula went up by 2.4 per cent to MOP104,346.

For the whole year of 2019, the number of building units and parking spaces transacted went down by 26.9 per cent year-on-year to 11,022, with transaction value dropping 30.5 per cent to MOP62.24 billion.

Last year the average price per square metre of office units also saw a considerable decrease of 33.8 per cent year-on-year to MOP108,407.
