The current tropical cyclone Signal 8 will be lowered to Signal 3 at 5:30pm, the Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) has announced.
Local winds are expected to weaken after Typhoon Kompasu made landfall over Hainan Island at 4:00pm.
Signal 8 was initially hoisted at 10:30pm yesterday (Wednesday). Blue storm surge warning is still in force.
