The annual auction of the Sociedade de Jogos de Macau (SJM) raised 2.86 million patacas (US$375,500), which will be distributed to ten charitable associations, was announced yesterday.
“This is our 13th solidarity auction, which coincides this year with the 20th anniversary of Macau’s return to the homeland. It is with great pleasure that we see the amount reached being delivered to worthy causes in Macau, following the tradition created by our founder Stanley Ho,” said SJM’s daughter and chairman, Daisy Ho.
The amount raised was given to ten associations such as the Holy House of Mercy, Caritas Macau, Mother’s Work or Macau Special Olympics, among others.
Founded by tycoon Stanley Ho, SJM is one of the six gaming operators in Macau.
The group operates 22 casinos in the territory and expects to open next year the Grand Lisboa Palace resort, SJM’s first in Cotai.
