Some MOP67.2 bln collected in gaming taxes as of July

The Macau government collected a total of MOP67.2 billion (US$8.3 billion) in gaming taxes the first seven months of this year, a 2.2 per cent year-on-year increase, according to the latest data revealed from the Financial Service Bureau (DFS) today.

In total, the Macau SAR government has collected MOP74.8 billion in tax revenue by July this year, indicating that the gaming sector had contributed 88 per cent of the total.

The initial estimates for gaming revenues to be collected in 2019 were set at about MOP98.2 billion, with 68.4 per cent already received.

Meanwhile, the local government expended some MOP41.4 billion between January and July, a 2.7 per cent drop compared with the same period of last year.

Transfers, funding, and subsidies remained the largest part of public expenditure, with some MOP25.1 billion disbursed in this government’s actions.

By July the Macau government had recorded a budget surplus of MOP35.6 billion, an amount 97 per cent higher than initially expected.
