What better way to celebrate Macau Business’s 17th anniversary than to showcase 17 locals aged 35 and younger with the kind of talent that boosts our confidence in the future?
MB May 2021 Special Report | 17 talented young people
Fortunately, there are far more than 17 young people aged 35 or under who stand out in Macau. The following list is proof, if ever you needed it.
In addition to the 17 people on our list, there are so many others who fit the bill.
Here are some examples of young local talent who will remain on our radar:
Christy Un and Arianna U are two amazing women who are actively promoting sustainable development goals in Macau in the wake of their internship at the UN. They have formed a new association called Genervision, and they regularly produce outstanding educational content.
The “Femme Sessions” event held last year with the exhibition of three short films was curated by Cheong Kin Man, a young man from Macau and a doctoral student at the Free University of Berlin.
Speaking of cinema, the cinematographer on Tracy Choi’s film Sisterhood, Simmy Cheong, also represents the next generation of film professionals.
Nuno Lopes, founder of Nuno Lopes Cosmetics, was the first Macau fashion designer to be featured in British Vogue, and Sandy Tang was a top-three MasterChef UK finalist.
Readers will have heard of Sabrina Ho Chiu Yeng, eldest daughter of Stanley Ho and Angela Leong. She is Director and CEO of Poly Auction Macau Limited, founder and Managing Director of Chiu Yeng Culture Limited and a member of the Committee of Cultural Industries of the Macao SAR Government.
And on the subject of young entrepreneurs, a word about the president of the Macao Startup Club, Kaiden Sin, or about Jason Ho, venture capital investor and son of local Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng who is reportedly involved in a project to organize a local tech fair aiming to rival Las Vegas’s annual Consumer Technology Association (CES) trade show.
In the field of politics, one would also keep an eye on Scott Chiang, and the same goes for young, quadrilingual lawyer Mandy Fu.
We chose a special name to close this list: Ana Catarina Alvarez Doctor. Have you heard of her? The daughter of a migrant family, Ana Catarina helps young women who have been subjected to abuse, through a center for women in the city.
