Storm moving towards Hainan to impact local weather during the weekend

The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau  (SMG) has indicated that a monsoon depression over the northern part of the South China Sea will develop into a tropical cyclone today (Friday) or tomorrow heading gradually towards Hainan Island while bringing unsettled weather to Macau.

This could lead the local weather department to consider issuing a Tropical Cyclone Signal and Storm Surge Warning, with Heavy showers and thunderstorms, are expected this weekend with winds reaching strong breeze level at times.

At the same time, accompanying with the astronomical high tide between August 1 to 4, flooding will occur on low-lying areas near Inner Harbor in the morning with an expected flooding level below 0.5 meters, with members of the public advised to pay close attention to weather updates.
