The Quinta do Mocho district in Lisbon – once considered a “no-go zone” – has been transformed by street art. In 2014, the town hall organised a street art festival, offering to paint walls in the district. Since then, the event takes place every year, raising awareness on issues like racial discrimination and contributing to a reduction in the crime rate, local authorities say.
