Summit Ascent suspends gaming operations

Summit Ascent Holdings Limited announced that after suggestions by the Russian Government on measures to contain the Covid-19 pandemic, it will temporarily suspend its gaming operations in Vladivostok starting from March 28.

Summit Ascent operates the casino resort Tigre de Cristal in the Integrated Entertainment Zone of the Primorye Region near Vladivostok, Russia.

Suncity Group is currently a major shareholder in the group holding a 27.97 per cent share, with chairman, Alvin Chau Cheok Wa, having been appointed as its Non-executive Director and Chairman of the Board in June of last year.

‘The aim of the temporary suspension is to prevent crowd gatherings during the pandemic. The Group fully supports President Vladimir Putin and the Russian Government’s measures to combat Covid-19, as the health and safety of our guests and our team members are of paramount importance,’ a notice signed by Chau at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange indicated.

Russia has reported 1,036 Covid-19 confirmed cases and three deaths.
